VALVE AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN

Job Description

The role of the VA Technician is to assemble, calibrate, test and prep for shipment industrial valves, actuators, instruments and accessories into an integrated assembly that can be automatically operated from an electrical, electronic, or pneumatic control signal.  To accomplish this, the Technician follows written specifications and factory recommended procedures, while utilizing inventoried and/or purchased OEM components.

 

Specific job duties include:

  1. Assemble, calibrate and test automated actuated valve assemblies and regulators, to meet factory and customer specifications
  2. Utilize PC based applications that communicate electronically with “smart” instrument devices for testing and calibrating an automated valve assembly. 
  3. Utilize effective inventory handling procedures to ensure high stock accuracy when removing or replacing inventory items involved in the assembly or parts change-out process.
  4. Practice good housekeeping to maintain an uncluttered, organized work area.         
  5. Use effective palletizing techniques to prepare assembled work for shipment.
  6. Be proficient in operating a forklift for moving inventory or assembled product within the facility.
  7. Actively support PCE’s Total Customer Commitment (TCC) philosophy, which focuses on excellent customer service for both external and internal customers.

 

Job qualifications and skills include:

  1. Prior experience in related or similar light industrial assembly work and/or demonstrated mechanical aptitude (important and required)
  2. Good organizational skills, attention to details, and the ability to accurately follow verbal and written assembly, testing and calibration procedures.
  3. Ability to work independently after proper training, on specific customer orders with minimum supervision.
  4. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Be a team player, working well with and in support of others in the department.
  6. Valid driver license.
  7. Legally qualified to be employed in the U.S. and can satisfactorily pass a background check, including drug testing.
  8. Physical Requirements:  Walking, standing for long periods, heavy lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, seeing, hearing, and talking,   Ability to operate shop machinery such as a motorized hoist, a chop saw, and a forklift.
